1-3 Inches

Back in the middle of January on a Saturday snow was forecasted…. 1 to 3 inches of light snow.  Domenic had taken Grace and DJ off for an adventure up to the camp.  Payten and I stayed home to do all my errands.

We left the house by 9, there was no precipitation at this time.  After about an hour there was light snow falling, but it wasn’t sticking.  At about 11 we went in to Home Depot.  We were inside for a good 45 minutes as I was looking a materials for a project I was working on.  When we come outside there was over an inch of snow on the ground and it was coming down in huge fat flakes.

The drive home was interesting.  I had to go veeeery slow and was slipping and sliding all over.

The snow was beautiful though.  In the end we got over 6 inches of snow and the rest of the family made it home safely!

Skating

Waaaaaay back in January when we didn’t have much snow and the ice was clear,we took the kids to Gram and Pop-pop’s house to skate.  The ice wasn’t the greatest because it had been above freezing, but Grace didn’t care.  She took off and learned very quickly to compensate for the uneven patches.

DJ tried skates for a few minutes, but preferred his boots.  Payten wanted to play inside with Gram!!

We had lots of fun!!!!  Halley the dog even played hockey…. well, she stole the puck from those playing hockey.

Rudolph

DJ is obsessed with inflatable lawn decorations.  To save Mama’s sanity,we bought a small one before Christmas.  Rudolph never made it outside.  He got moved from room to room and was fought over daily.  During one altercation, Rudolph’s cord was ripped off.  DJ was devastated.  He cried and cried.  (Mama was just glad the fighting had stopped.)

DJ now pestered me to find out if I fixed Rudolph.  I said I couldn’t fix him but Pop-pop might be able to, so we called Pop-pop to set up a “fix Rudolph” appointment.  Pop-pop came over one morning and DJ was soooo excited.  He was watching very intently everything Pop-pop did.  Auntie came too to lend a hand! Pop-pop showed DJ the different wires.  DJ was even able to pick the correct wires to put together. Maybe he will be an electrician when he grows up!!!

Fixed Rudolph now sits on top of DJ’s dresser guarding him at night.
